January 1, 2011

I can't believe that it's January already and that my Winter Break had past. I dislike Winter Break because it makes me feel bored. However, I like Chinese New Year Break even more than Winter Break even though it's shorter because of several reasons. For example, I can go and visit my grandparent's for at least five days and it's really awesome. Also, I can spend time with my friends at my mom's office since they are having their Break as well. It's really awesome. I can't wait till Chinese New Year Break. During the five days at my grandparent’s, I can do a lot of stuff. I can roam around the yard, race with my brothers, roller blade around the field, ride the bike around the field, eat ice cream, practice a bit less piano and violin than usual, play baseball, soccer, and a lot more sports, and have a lot of fun! Most of all, I am most excited about the idea of Andrea and her whole family coming to my grandparent's house and play. In one of the previous blog posts, I mentioned that the last time I went and visit my grandparent's, I met Andrea's cousin there and that her cousin's mother know my grandparents really well, so it won't be like strangers coming over to my grandparent's house. It will be not so strangers (haha).
Now, about my Winter Break, it was normal like usual. This is my daily schedule: Wake up, get driven to my mother's office by my mother, practice piano and violin each one hour while my mother is at the kindergarten teaching piano, then head over to the kindergarten to eat lunch at 11:50 about, after eating, I play a bit of soccer at the playgroud, then come back to my mom's office where I play a bit of computer game, then I practice one hour of violin, have a break, practice another hour of piano, read, have a break, then head home, eat supper, do a bit of school work and a bit of my mom's homework, then read, play computer, and have free time until bed time. That is my basic schedule. In those absolutely normal days, I found my pleasure by watching a first grade boy which is really tall. That boy is unlike most kids I realized. He laughs when the teachers yell at him. For example, during piano lessons with a whole other bunch of other first grader kids, he always keep roaming around the room eating. He loves to eat and would eat anything my mother will give him such as apple, banana and things most children wouldn’t want to eat. Never mind that, well, when my mother sees him roaming around, she would yell at her and the little boy would laugh a bit and head back to his room. He’s such a happy kid and during the break, I made friends with him. I taught him how to play Taiwan kind of Bingo and taught him some math homework of his and we played together. That’s something interesting unlike the usual.
As for the holidays, it's basically the same boringness. However, on one of the Saturdays, I went to climb a nearby mountain with my family not counting my oldest brother but including Andrea. It's pretty fun and enjoyable. There's a funny point and that's before we even start climbing the mountain, my dad had bought a stick, I have bought tops that could spin and Andrea bought another toy and my mom bought a hitting herself stick. It's so funny. Then, we climb to the top and we started eating. It seems as if we would be heavier climbing downhill then climbing uphill. haha. Well, I enjoyed that.
I am all fine with school starting except for a couple points. First, I would have less time playing an online game that I recently started playing. Second of all, there's that Science Fair stuff. I couldn't think of any topic and it's all so annoying. I started doing an experiment a month ago, having some idea that it would fail and it really did. So now, I have no idea what to do. Compared to those two points, there's a couple points that I do like about school starting and that is firstly, I can be waiting for Chinese New Year Break and my birthday, and the other point is just going to school. Having my Winter Break schedule for the same every year is getting bored so I'm glad to be going back to school. Another thing is that I read a couple of books during this Winter Break and I'm pretty glad about it because during the school year, I have a really high pile of books ready for me to read whenever I have time. But to tell the truth, I don't have much time during school days when I have to go to school, practice piano and violin, and finish my homework on time. So, I am glad I'm working on that pile. I've finished 6 books: The Son of Neptune, The Adventure of Tom Sawyer, Rufus M., two books from the LionBoy series The Chase and The Truth, and finally a book called The Same Stuff as Stars. Out of all those books, I liked most of them even though each one is different in a way. For example, The Same Stuff as Stars is such a sad story but on the other hand, Rufus M. is such a happy story. Now, I'm forward to reading other books on my pile such as The Fellowship of the Ring, The Cardturner by Louis Sachar, The Throne of Fire, and George's Cosmic Treasure Hunt (or something like that) by Stephen and Lucy Hawking. I'm also waiting for some books to get published. Well, that's about it for my Winter Break. I hope Chinese New Year Break can come early and end slowly. By the way, I feel sick. Yesterday, my throat hurt and my brother's kind of sick as well. Today, my throat hurts and my nose's all clogged up. I hope I don't get the flu that's going around people recently.
